We start with rakhi and sawan purnima .On 29 August people in town celebrate rakshabandhan and sawan purnima. Raksha bandhan was celebrated by all people and community in town .Sawan purnima was a big hindu celebration in the month of sawan hindus from kharagpur town visit to Tarkeshwar and worship lord Siva. Every Saturday and Sunday main rush for kanwaries found in all railway station in town like: Kharagpur main station, Girimaidan substation, Hijali substation and Nimpura substations.
Tarkeshwar is not directly connected to kharagpur , people need to go Howrah first than catch train for tarkeshwar. People took water from Sewrapully and walk to Tarkeshwar mandir. In Sawan purnima people also brings water from kansawati river and do their ritual in town siv mandir.This trend was started from last 10 years backs.People who are not able to went to Tarkeshwar worship lord siva in town temple.

On the occasion of sawan purnima siv temple in town decorates with flowers and lights.
Janmasthmi is also celebrated with all communities in town on 5 september but basically north Indian and bengolies in town celebrate and organized Janmasthmi festival in town.
Some cultural festival also organized by mandir and religious and cultural organization in town main attraction was Gujrati communities during Janmasthmi.Jalaram temple of Kharagpur was one of the main attraction during Janmasthmi celebration.
Janmasthmi basically celebrate in family different temples and social communities in town.
