Makar Sankranti is hindu festival ,this festive celebrate in all parts of country with different names.In north india this known as makar Sankranti and East India in Assam known as bihu in south its known as pongal and in Punjab and Haryana Lohari. This was actually celebration for new crop.

So,here makar Sankranti,bihu and lohari all celebrate together.As I am stay out of home and not be able to reach kharagpur for this festival,but as per my old memories.In this day in our home in morning we after bath and puja taking one black seed sweet also known as tili laddu. In our home different sweet made in this day ,in afternoon we take sweet curd with stuff rice and in dinner we take rice made from different vegetables (khichuri).Our south indian neighbour gives us idaly,utthapam,kurum ,bara and also different south Indian snacks items.We are eating bengoli pithe made from rice flour known as pur pithe, pathisapta etc.

Morning bath in this day very important people also went to nearest river to take bath and from kharagpur nearest river is kansawati. In talbachina and tengra area there is also cock fight arranged by local.
South Indian has celebrate this festival three days first day they are doing bogi ,second day pongal when they made different south indian dish made from new crop rice and third day they made non vegetarian foods.
