Chatpuja is basically puja of god Sun and Chatimaiya. This festival
started from Rig-Veda era, and in Mahabharata period Dropadi as well as Karna
(son of Hindu god Sun) also performs this ritual. Chatpuja celebrate in all
part of India as well as different corner of World by East and North Indian
people basically people belongs from Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and

In kharagpur Mandirtalab in kharida is main place for chatpuja,
but other area of Kharagpur like: JhinTalab in Bhagwanpur, Jhapatapur and Inda
where local people do this ritual in local pond. From last few years people of
this town went to Kansawati River for doing this ritual. Kansawati River is
only taking fifteen minutes to reach by local train from giri maidan.

Main reason for this puja: Sun is main sole of every living
being in earth, Human directly or indirectly depends on sun for their food and
energy and for medicine. As per Hindu astrology Sun went in nich rashi on the
other hand Saturn was become powerful (Saturn or Shani is son of Sun) in this

Chattpuja in Jamshedpur
You can also overcome from any difficulty in your life if
you regularly do surya upasana .Other than Kharagpur, Jamshedpur, different
ghats of Ganga River in Kolkata also this ritual performed by people. There is
no boundation for performing his puja but women are mainly did this ritual as
well as they fasting for this festival.
As shawan is holy month for north Indian Kartik month is
holy month for South Indian. South Indian community of Kharagpur town worship
god Shiva in this month, some of them went to Kansawati River for taking bath
on every Monday of this month and they did Shiva Aradhana in whole month. House
wife’s getup early in this month and clean their home and decorate their front
gate with rangoli and went to temple.
