Ram navami is one of the main north Indian festivals in India. In West Bengal this festival only celebrates in some non Bengali colonies in Kolkata, Asansol and Kharagpur.

But in whole state only Kharagpur was main attraction because here two main festivals celebrate in same day. First was Ram navami fasting and puja in different temples, especially in ram mandir and hanuman mandir. Second most important was Jawara puja.  Jawara is onw kind of shaki puja, which also known as bambleswari puja. It was believe that sriram was doing this puja to get blessing from devi durga to got blessing before lanka war.

In Ram navami different akhara from town also organized sova yatra .In this yatra they decorate traditional arms and weapons on board and went nearest ram mandir. In traffic, kharida and jhapatapur where this sova yatra organized.

In Jawarah puja nine days special puja organized in shitla temple in bhagwanpur. In these nine days, everyday bhajan kirtan played in evening .Nine big lamp, which known as akhand jyoti enlighten for nine days .This festival was also ecofriendly when we worship nature. In this festive small plants which was worship and in last day this was taken to nearest pond for worship. In morning sova yatra started from temple and move in different location of malancha gatarpara and bhagwanpur and than reach to Jhin talab at last.

Ram navami fasting also celebrate  in most of the north Indian,marwari ,Gujrati and punjabi families in town. Naukanya bhojan was organised in asthmi and navami.In these nine days basically the women and girls were fasting and take only fruits and drinks and all families only take veg foods.

In 1990 and before during this festival kushti organized near jholi but now these was totally stopped now.

In this town all the big banks centralised and private have there branch. Most of the banks were available in malancha road. Punjab and Dindh bank in Kharida, Indusland bank in kharida road, Vijaya Bank, Canara Bank in kharida ,Indian overseas Bank and United Bank of India, VidyaSagar Cooperative Bank near hitkarni Higher secondary school. Punjab National Bank, HDFC, IDBI, Uko Bank, Syndicate bank,ICICI Bank,Axis Bank, State Bank ,Andhra bank and Baroda banks are in malancha. Every banks has there ATMS, except Punjab National bank atm all are working fine.In Punjab National bank ATM most of time errors message came.

In weekend people mainly went to temple. Kharagpur has many temples and mainly Balaji temple and sai temple has crowded.

Other than this every festival and puja celebrate with same enthusiasm as like other place in India. As kharagpur has different community and religion people, so whole the years has different puja and festival organized in town.

This town has all such activities but still there is mental peace people not rush as like the metro cities. Here people ready to help every stranger. Except only small incidence there was no big communal violence never happen, which was also a good sign.

Crime rate is not too high but still some robbery and looting incidence happened. Mainly less crowded railway areas are main crime zone in evening and night.

Town police was not well efficient ,they were not behaved well with people who came to lodge any complain and for this reason people not interested to went local police station.

Paramilitary force Eastern Frontier Force where used in any big incidence. Most of the Railway properties where protected by Railway Protection Force.

There  was also Emergency force station near local police station.

After launching of Puja mall most of the teenagers spent their evening time here. There was no specific area or garden for couple in town but still IIT campus, puja mall, Jagannath temple where main meeting place. IIT campus was most beautiful place where tree shade from side of road and less traffic and peaceful atmosphere provide best location for lovers in town other than this medinipur park ,eccopark near salua, khudiram park also has best location for love birds in town.

For food Little sister restaurant, Share-e- hind restaurant in national highway,sahara restaurant  etc. were good.Jagannath mela ,durga puja were main attraction in town.

If you want to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere than goplai ashram was best in town.In Kharagpur many Govt. and private school exists.Central school or kendriya vidyalaya has four branches in town next in row was South Eastern Railway school which has also four branch in town.Other than this Sacred Heart,St. agnes,Ward Memorial,DAV,Andhra school,TelguVidya Pitham,Hitkarni School,Gujrati School,Aotulmoni School etc.There was five different colleges in town: Kharagpur college,Hijali College,IIT Kharagpur,Vinod gupta management school,Law college etc.

There was also Aotulmoni Polytechnic and South Eastern Railway training school in town. Sewage and water supply was good ,which maintain by Kharagpur municipality.In town there was two hospital one was Railway main hospital and second was state hospital Chandmari. Railway main hospital was comparatively  well and good and maintain proper hygiene but state hospital look like a brucher shop untidy and unclean atmosphere and worst behaviour of doctors and medical staff make you sick. There was many private nurshing home.

Other than this homoeopathy and alopathy both doctors clinic available here.Some doctors came from Kolkata weekly and by-weekly in different medical stores in town.For shopping gole bazaar is best other than this gate bazar, prembazar,
malancha super market,puja mall, prem bazar,Kharida bazar,naya bazar,nimpura bazar etc.Real state market also develop in town . There was huge scarcity for vacant plot in town in municipal area so most of real state and big flats and colonies were developed Inda,extended kharagpur or jakpur area.
