We were celebrating rath yatra or Jagannath yatra in Kharagpur and different parts of state .I was already provide you information about kharagpur rath yatra in my last year blog post: Rathyatra and Jagannaath Puja in Kharagpur.In this post I was only upload some pictures from Kharagpur rath yatra but my most coverage based on Mayapur Iskcon Rath Yatra. If I am saying that Mayapur is spiritual capital of West Bengal ,than its better to understand this small town. This town is head quarter of ISKCON: International Society for Krishna Consciousness.
Mayapur is birth place of Hindu spiritual saint Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. ISKCON run regular bus service from Kolkata to Mayapur or you can catch train from sealdah or Bidhan nagar to Krishnapur and from Krishnapur you can hire auto or rickshaw to Mayapur. This small town is no traffic or pollution problem like Kolkata, but during rath yatra you can find some crowed in road side.
Many Bengoli film acter and actress participate in Mayapur Rathyatra. Deities were dress in colorful outfil with flowers and tulsi leaves garlends, Vedic mantras continued sung in loudspeaker during the journey of Jaganath.
In Kolkata also lots of people gathered for ISKCON rath yatra .Our Chief Minister also participate with other public .
Barisha-south kolkata’s Roy Choudhury family start rath yatra in 1719, today the festival organised jointly by Barisha Rathayatra Utsav Committee and Roy Choudhury Paribar.
In kharagpur my home town was also celebrating this festival .Jagannath mandir committee organized this rath yatra and rath mela in town. People from different parts of town participate in this grand festival .Rain from last few days made the atmosphere pleasant.
