AFS Salua:
The Kendriya Vidyalaya at the Air Force Station, Salua is one of the Vidyalayas of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan set up by the MInistry of Education Govt. of India.  It is a defence sector institution which was established in 1986, primarily to cater the educational needs of the children of the defence personnel's as well as the floating population of the area.  The Vidyalaya of Kharagpur cluster is situated in the Radar Unit of the Air Force Station Salua at a distance of about 12 kms. from the Kharagpur Railway Station.
One would be bewildered at the meteoric rise of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Salua since 20-06-2001 which was an un-heard name and an unknown existence before.  Being situated at a distance of 12 kms from the heart of Kharagpur township it was considered  to be a remote place to reach and unacknowledged school by the quality of incentives imparted to the pupils.  Within this last two years it has struggled a lot to make a niche in the list of  best  school  in  the  region and  out witted  all  the derisions of the critics by  dint of hard and concerted endeavor of the principal and the dedication of his crew members.  Providing quality education enabling the students to certain verities to develop introspective spirit should be the commitment and the conviction for a good school.  Kendriya Vidyalaya Salua has fulfilled the expectation of the parents and the society to a  great extent in the recent years.  Now this Vidyalaya is no more a school for getting visas to be admitted to others KVS in Kharagpur.  Distance is no more a hindrance which is proved by the present student strength raising from 550 to 1400 in the recent years.
