Dashera or Vijaya Dashmi one of the important Hindu festival. This festival was celebrate in every part of country in same manner and enjoyment. In dashmi all Durgapuja pandal organised sindoor khela , this was main attraction of Durga Mandir of Gole bazaar. Second most event was Ravan Dahan. This year 60 foot Ravan made by Dashera committee.

Both of these were found in every part of country but the main difference was our akhara. In rest of country akhara presentation was organised in different time but in Kharagpur Vijaya Dashmi was main event when akhara from different area of Kharagpur participate.

I don’t want to give senti statement, for this. One most interesting things were name of Akhara every Akhara was named as Bajrang Akhara in Kharagpur but they belong from different areas. First was Kumar para Bajrang Akhara now this this Akhara became smallest due to finance, Second was Gole Bazaar ,third was from traffic and one from Jholi area of Kharagpur.

In ravan Maidan different Akhara present there events and Jury select the best performing Akhara, Best decoration and Best Performer. Than theatre artist perform the Ram Ravan yudh and at last the chief guest enlighten the Ravan.

Akhara was joined with ravan dahan from 1925 in Kharagpur and our Kumar para Bajrang Akhara was one of the oldest in town. But this akhara culture was in last stage because the past glory of akhara lost previously lots of people participates in akhara and in dashmi lots of event organised during akhara but now youth attraction changed to zym culture they were not interested to participate in akhara.

Ravaan Was the Great Demons King of Lanka, He was also Known as Greatest Shiv Bhaqt till now.Lord Shiva had given his name as Ravan, He was also known as Dashgrev Dasanand,Lankeshwar,and a great priest,Ravan is depicted and described as having ten heads, Ravan possessed a thorough knowledge of Ayurved and political science. Ravan became a lifelong devotee of Lord Shiva and is said to have composed the hymn known as Shiva Tandava Stotra.
