Amaging view of sunrise and sunset from Digha

Digha beach is discovered by British in late 18th century in 1780AD.Warren Hesting was mention this place as Brighton of the East in his letter to his wife. Later on in 1923 an English tourist John Frank Smith was charmed with the beauty of the place and lived here thereafter.

Daily bus services available from Kolkata to Digha. There is also train service available from howrah and Kharagpur .Private cars and shuttle also available from kharagpur. Near about places in Digha is Tajpur, Shankarpur, Mandarmani and junput. There are many cheap rice hotels available here. Some continental, Chinese are also available in resort restaurant .Digha is nice place to visit to take a break from daily hectic life schedule. There are many things to watch in digha.

There are many budgeted and luxury hotels here. You can book hotels as per your preference and budget. Local market full with different seafood’s and dry food product, many handicrafts items made of sea shells are available in the market. You get all the decorative handicraft products at a affordable price but you need to bargain .In winter season all the resort and hotels are packed with tourist, so book your hotels in advance. Offseason hotels and resort available easily except weekend. Old digha beach is basically covered with hard stone to check soil erosion so a new beach develop two kilometer far from old digha.

Udaipur beach, this beach is newly explored and untouched by the crowed. This beach is middle the Bengal Orissa border. Nearby delta where Subarnarekha merge in ocean is also a great attraction.

Marine Aquarium and Research Centre (MARC) is also an important place to visit. This was developed in the year of 1989 under seventh five years plan of action. MARC is largest inbuilt marine aquarium in India.
Lord siva temple in chandeswar is only eight kilometer far from Digha.
Junput is also a fishing beach just 40 km away from the digha. State Govt. fisheries department nurturing and examine brackish water fish here.
Shankarpur is another virgin beach of this area only 14 km east of digha. State Govt. this beach as main fishing destination. Sun reflection in salty water and and local fishing boats in morning create a beautiful photogenic seen here.
