Haldia : A port town





Haldia a port town of east midnapore.This  port is develop to reduce the burden on Calcutta port.Calcutta port has alredy maintain a huge burden,so  haldia port is develop to reduce this burden.Haldia is comparatively near to sea so, it don’t require the extra cost of dredging. State Govt. develop a  chemical industrial town in this port.A petrochemical  industrial area also develop in this belt.




Haldia is well connected by Kolkata through road and rail transport system.AC bus service is also start here.
As per the last census report total population of this place is  2,00,762 and 87% people are educated.
This town  has many higher education institution like : 




Haldia Institute of Technology, Haldia Government College, Haldia Law College and Haldia Paramedical College, Global Institute of Science and Technology, Haldia Institute of Dental Sciences & Research,ICARE Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Haldia Institute of Maritime Studies and Research , two hotel management colleges and a govt. college.Haldia also has an Institute that comes under Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India whose name is CIPET i.e. "Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology" .
Haldia is going to get second internation cricket  stadium after Eden in Westbengal.Haldia town has one japnese colony sakatu,which is  also known as mini japan.Here most of the japnese executive and officer  of mitshubishi  plants stay.This place have japnese restaurant and one japnese  theater,where japnese cinema played.
