Some amazing temple from Kharagpur town

This post has extension of my last two post, temples from kharagpur. In our town there are lots of temple  so it can't be possible to cover all that in one post.
One more was nandeshwar temple which was in malancha was one of the oldest temple in town .I was showing old picture of this temple before independence when there was no home near the temple but now this temple totally changed. It was believed that this temple was built 1634.

One more old temple in town was Khaler Bonpatna. It was believed that this was made before 500 years ago .This ram temple had gold idol when constructed but that was stolen two times so metal idol placed later on. Most part of this temple ruined due to lack of maintenance, you can get more information of this temple in my previous post : A 500 year old temple from Khaler Bonpatna.

In 2002 the new temple was inaugurated by Gajapati Maharaj, total cost came rs.70 lakhs .It was only temple in west bengal with Utkaliya art and architecture is found till date.

'Khargeswar Mahadev" temple was also 200 years old.it was believed that this was built by king kharga singha and due to this this town got the namekharagpur.

Sai temple in new settlement also one of the unique temple made just 15 years back.

One interesting temple was hirimba mai temple I don’t heard about any other hirimba temple in India.Hirimba was wife of bheem .I was also show picture of Hirimba temple in my previous post.In mahabrata time this area came in matsay dynesty under king virat where pandavs hide.It was also interesting to know that in Kharagpur Bheem as well as hirimba both worship.Bheem statue you can find in many parts of Bengal and in Kharagpur gawala para in Inda every year mela as well as bheem puja organised.

  3. Dear Mr. Hirakant Singh, I am research scholar in IIT Kharagpur. I appreciate your nice collection of photos of Kharagpur. You really did an extensive research on Kharagpur. I liked your blog. In this blog, I saw two black & white photos (Nandeshwar temple in malancha Kharagpur during 1940). Will you please tell me, from where you got those old photographs of 1940??? Actually I am doing some research on it, I shall be grateful to you for this favour. My contact number is 8051034448 and my email is rajeev.iit.78@gmail.com
