Tamluk:An ancient port town



Tamluk is one of the oldest town of the region .This place was known as tamralipta in history, and this place was an port town in the bank of river rupnarayan but after changing of rupnarayan stream the port sift to haldia.

Bargabhima Temple, which is one of the 51 shakti peetha of goddess kali. As per the ancient mythology, tamralipta was created by goddess Bargabhima, and the temple of Bargabhima built by god viswakarma. As per the ancient record this temple builds by the kings of mayor dynasty. The present temple is build after destruction of old  by the muslim ruler of Bengal.

Tamluk rajbari was built in 5B.C. back by Mayuradha dynasty king, it was believed that the king was also participate in Sayambhar Sabha of Draupadi of Mahabharata..Mahatma Gandhi and Subhas Chandra Bose also come to watch this palace.

Tamluk is well connected with kharagpur from NH6.You can also reach mcheda by train and from there private and state bus available which will take only 15 to 20 minutes to reach tamluk.
